Getting braces isn’t what it used to be. Today’s options range from colorfully cool, to nearly invisible. Dr. Zachary will work with you to help determine what is best for you. We are proud to have partnered with 3M, a global leader in technology, innovation and research. In the braces arena, 3M produced the first stainless steel braces, the first adhesive pre-coated braces, color-changing bonding adhesive and true self-ligating braces. Dr. Zachary utilizes customized 3M Victory Series Metal Braces. Dr. Zachary prefers using the lowest profile bracket systems accompanied with gentle, heat-activated wires to gently move your teeth comfortably and predictably. Dr. Zachary customizes the braces, wires, elastic rubber bands, and all the delicate instruments used to make your smile its best.
Using plastic aligner sequences, Dr. Zachary can often straighten your teeth without wires and brackets. These systems combine advanced computer graphics technology with the 100-year-old science of orthodontics. Dr. Zachary designs aligners to move your teeth in small steps to the desired final position. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. Each aligner is worn for about one to two weeks and only taken out to eat, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will begin to move gradually – week-by-week until the final alignment prescribed is attained. Dr. Zachary, being a certified orthodontist and Invisalign™Specialist, can determine if this treatment is an effective option for you.
Unfortunately, there is confusing and conflicting information about potential results using aligners. Dr. Zachary has treated hundreds of cases successfully but more importantly, is qualified to properly advise you whether your case will be a predictable success or not.
Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. Often, these abnormalities cause difficulty associated with chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Orthognathic surgery corrects these problems and, in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, will improve the overall appearance of the facial profile.
Using the latest in digital imaging technology, computerized treatment planning minimizes treatment times, recovery periods and the overall efficacy of your surgery. Orthognathic surgery may be unnecessary if orthodontic treatment can correct the problem. With the latest advances in orthodontics, this is sometimes the case. We will determine if orthognathic surgery is the correct treatment option for you.
One of the biggest obstacles for patients undergoing orthodontic treatment is length of treatment time. Exciting news! A new technology adopted from the medical profession has been applied to orthodontics that decreases treatment time up to 50%. Better yet, the technology is safe and causes no pain. The appliance is called AcceleDent®. Dr. Zachary has used AcceleDent® with many of his patients with great success. Dr. Zachary will discuss with you whether you are a candidate for this revolutionary technique during your initial consultation.
